Mexican Pitcher Sage

Mexican Pitcher Sage is a striking perennial that produces long 1-foot spikes of vibrant magenta to purple-pink flowers from summer into early fall. Native to Mexico, this adaptable plant thrives in full sun to part shade and well-draining soil, making it an excellent choice for sunny borders and containers.

While not native to California, Mexican Pitcher Sage is highly attractive to local pollinators—hummingbirds and native bees actively seek its nectar-rich blooms throughout the growing season. Its long flowering period extends the food sources available to California's pollinator populations, supporting ecosystem health in your garden.

The plant is drought-tolerant once established and requires minimal maintenance. Perfectly adapted to California's climate with it's very low water needs and heat tolerance. Pair it with other sun-loving perennials for a vibrant, low-water garden that brings movement and color while nurturing the insects and birds essential to your landscape.
