Our Roots

The Planted Seed Nursery grew from a lifelong love of plants and a deep respect for the wild places that sustain us. Our journey began on farms and in permaculture gardens across the West, where we learned to work with nature rather than against it. Over the years, we’ve designed and installed regenerative landscapes, run successful ecological businesses, and built a life centered on growing food, living healthfully, and restoring balance to the land.

Where We Grow

Today, we call a 5‑acre homestead in the Sierra Nevada foothills home — a place where our nursery thrives among native oaks and wild meadows. Our nursery is woven into the landscape — a mix of propagation beds, pollinator habitats, and fruit trees that reflect our commitment to ecological balance.

What We Offer

From this land, we grow and ship California native plants and resilient species adapted to the western climate, helping gardeners and restoration projects create thriving, water‑wise habitats. We also cultivate a limited collection of fruit trees, specializing in rare fig varieties, pawpaw, and other unique selections grown from seed, cuttings, and air layers. Every plant we nurture carries a piece of our philosophy: that gardening is an act of stewardship, a way to reconnect with the earth, and a seed planted for future generations.
