Canyon Gooseberry

Canyon Gooseberry is a hardy, native shrub prized for its delicate spring blooms. The Canyon Gooseberry produces edible purple gooseberries; however, they are mostly seeds and not very palatable. This drought-tolerant plant thrives partial to deep shade and adapts well to rocky, well-draining soils. Reaching 6+ feet tall, it's ideal for naturalized gardens, wildlife corridors, and low-maintenance landscapes. The small, spiny stems produce fragrant flowers followed by clusters of small berries that attract hummingbirds and support and multitude of wildlife.
